As an all-volunteer group, we offer free kayaking twice a week from June through September -- Thursdays after work and Sunday afternoons. The Red Hook Boaters needs both experienced kayakers as well as newcomers to join our core of volunteers.

There is no minimum commitment. You can come down and help us out when you can. We can always use extra hands willing to pitch in for a couple of hours at the walk-ups and, of course, we would love to have more regular volunteers too.

Running the program at Valentino Pier includes getting kayaks ready, checking equipment, signing visitors up, giving them quick safety and kayaking tips, handing out and checking life jackets, helping people into boats, and organizing the beach clean-up. It's easy -- and the smiles on our guests' faces when they get in the water are immediate payback.

Volunteering gets YOU out on the water, too -- providing opportunities to practice kayaking skills and have a lot of fun! And we take trips together on a regular basis throughout the summer - just one of the benefits of the Red Hook Boaters.

If you want to help-out, just come down when we are open and introduce yourself to the volunteers who are working the beach and, they will show you the ropes. There is no experience necessary, and no minimum commitment!
